Description

The fruiting bodies of Flammulina velutipes are generally small, most of them grow in bundles, and the flesh is soft and elastic; the pileus is spherical or oblate, with a diameter of 1.5-7cm. There is a thin layer of gum on the surface of the pileus, which is sticky when wet, and the color is white to yellowish brown; the flesh is white, thick in the center, thin at the edge, white or toothlike in the fold, sparse, different in length, free or curved from the stipe; the stipe is middle, 3.5-15cm long, straight 5 cm in diameter, white or light brown, hollow. The basidiospores are oval or pear shaped (5.5-8 × 3.5-4.2 μ m), colorless and smooth.
